The 6th meeting of the Monitoring Advisory Committee (MAC) of the Performance Monitoring for Action (PMA) project took place at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Statistique et d’Economie Appliquée (ENSEA) in Abidjan.
This meeting took place in the presence of Mr. Hyacinthe ANDOH, Deputy Coordinating Director of the National Mother and Child Health Programme (PNSME) and Chairman of the said committee, on Tuesday 29 June 2021. The objective of this workshop was to develop recommendations on the results of the PMA-Core surveys and the follow-up surveys of the abortion module.
“We have always been supported by the different members of the MAC, especially the PNSME, and I would like to thank Mr. ANDOH on behalf of the Director of ENSEA, project coordinator” said Dr. BOMISSO-MOSSO Rosine, PMA Côte d’Ivoire Project Manager, in her welcome speech.
Mrs. BOMISSO did not fail to point out some methodological innovations, among others: the longitudinal follow-up of women which is interested in the study of the contraceptive dynamics and the factors that could explain the changes of methods.
The PMA Côte d’Ivoire Project Manager challenged the Consultative Monitoring Committee (CMC) and other partners on the use of the data from this study which, according to her, should lead to decisions by the authorities to improve family planning and reproductive health.
“We are here to make some recommendations for the use of the data,” added Mr. ANDOH, Chairman of the committee, before her.
He welcomed the role played by the PMA Côte d’Ivoire team, which, thanks to the various surveys, provides important indicators on the contraceptive dynamics and contributes to the decrease in the level of maternal deaths as desired by the Ivorian government.
It was in plenary that the work of reflection and discussion for the recommendations formulation was carried out. During this workshop:
- The key results of the surveys (PMA-CORE and the follow-up survey of the abortion module were analysed in depth;
- Themes requiring further analysis were identified;
- Recommendations were proposed, discussed and adopted
As a reminder, Côte d’Ivoire through ENSEA has been in charge since 2019, of conducting data collection surveys under the Performnace Monitoring for Action (PMA) project.
