The 2021 edition of the IMF Fund Challenge aimed at undergraduate students in economics or a related discipline saw the participation of several institutions including ACE-ENSEA through SENZELE Joseph and his teammate DJIAGNI ROOSVELT, both enrolled in 2nd year of the Engineering Course (ITS).
Motivated by the desire to defend the colours of their institution and to equip themselves with the theoretical and practical tools necessary for macroeconomic analysis thanks to the online course provided by the IMF’s Capacity Development Institute, as well as the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the IMF’s analytical environment, these two students participated in this international challenge.
In the course of the challenge, they were asked by the IMF to carry out a macroeconomic diagnosis of the Brazilian economy. Their analysis focused on four areas: current economic conditions, monetary policy, fiscal policy and the analysis of the vulnerability (risk) of the economy to endogenous and exogenous shocks.
For each point, they proposed policies to resolve the identified bottlenecks. The relevance of their analysis enabled them to make an online presentation at the IMF Annual Meetings on 21 October 2021. They had the opportunity to meet with leaders, academics and representatives of civil society organisations from around the world.
