Assistants Statistical Officers are application managers whose role is to produce statistics and supervise field investigators. The training is spread over two academic years and includes both theoretical courses, tutorials and two months of practical field experience.
The objective of this cycle is to give students basic knowledge of the statistical method and, above all, to get them familiar with the control of statistical production. The practical internship allows the illustration of the different statistics courses. It is usually carried out as part of the school’s activities or as part of surveys carried out with the support of external organizations.
Efforts are increasingly being made at the African level to amplify the process of integration of peoples. Statistical training is part of this vision by designing harmonised programmes and transcending language barriers. Since 2008, ENSEA has been welcoming students from English-speaking countries in the Assistants Statistical Officers programme. The latter are taught on the same curriculum as the general Assistants Statistical Officers programme with more intensive courses on the French language.
